Tom Lowe enjoyed his first big wave session at Nazare in Portugal the other day, and he somehow walked away unscathed after being taken out by a jet ski. As you can see in the video, Lowe avoids the jet ski initially. But the ski gets taken out by the whitewater and eventually chases Lowe down. As Lowe tells, it basically ran him over and took out his legs.

Lowe was left without a scratch, but the same can't be said of his board...

Consider this an early Christmas present (for you, not for these surfers). History was made at the famed big wave spot Jaws (aka Pe'ahi) off the island of Maui earlier this December when they held the first-ever Pe'ahi Challenge. The first paddle-in surf contest at the treacherous Jaws, it certainly lived up to the hype. And when waves were pushing 60-foot, well you know there was bound to be a wipeouts compilation at some point.

The world's greatest surf may have just built the world's greatest man-made wave. Kelly Slater, 11x world champion, has just dropped a brand new video with his company, Kelly Slater Wave Company, that shows him surfing the wave his company built.

He speaks a bit about it in the video, but ver few details are given. It essentially looks like a set-up like the WaveGarden, but is much bigger and much hollower. He states that it's the greatest man-made wave ever, and from the looks of the barrels he's getting, it very well may be.

Martin "McFly" Winkler is a pro skier from Austria, but he also loves to surf. So he decided to combine the two a bit by taking an old surfboard for some deep powder runs, and it looks fun as all hell! Now that winter is here, we're surely gonna be trying this one out soon!

On Sunday, December 6, 2015 history was made at Jaws (also known as Pe'ahi) on the Island of Maui. The first-ever paddle-in surf contest was held at Jaws in 40-60-foot faces for the first Pe'ahi Challenge. For many years Jaws was strictly a tow-in wave, but that's been changing over the last couple of winters.

With his victory, big wave charger Billy Kemper forever ties himself to Jaws and his uncanny ability to be in-tune with everything the spot can dish out. It was a historic day at Jaws that'll go day in big wave infamy. Check out some of the highlights below.

Almost exactly 2 years after nearly dying at big wave spot Nazare in Portugal, Maya Gabeira has gotten her redemption. The female big wave surfer has been working towards this moment endlessly and has finally found her way back into the lineup at Nazare. And even better, it's now a 2016 XXL Big Wave Awards Ride Of The Year entry.
